2017-18 Lottery Update

The MIT lottery for 2017-18 enrollment will be held Friday, March 10 at 6:00 pm in the MPR. The 6th grade lottery will be at 6:05 and the 7-11th lotteries at 6:20. Applicants do NOT have to be present; results will be on the website by 7:00 pm and all admitted students will be notified by mail the week of March 13th.
Note that due to high retention rate of existing 6th-11th graders (99%), only the 6th grade lottery will be for placements; 7th – 10th grade will be for waiting list positions only. There is currently no waiting list for 11th grade.
Our 2016-17 6th-grade class will consist of 143 students. There are 61 siblings that are automatically enrolled, plus 36 local students, thereby resulting in 46 actual 6th-grade openings. Since there were 296 6th-grade applicants, subtracting the pre-enrollments leaves 199 applicants for the 46 remaining openings. Note the 153 students not admitted directly via the lottery will be placed on the priority waiting list in order by lottery number.
Students who are still on the waiting list in January will be encouraged to reactivate their application so as to keep their relative status for the following year.
Students who are placed on the waiting list are encouraged to apply to Caliber Charter School, Vallejo Charter School, Loma Vista middle school, and Mare Island Health & Fitness Academy, all of which have 6-8 programs. By applying at VCUSD, Caliber, or any other school, you will not lose your waiting list position at MIT.
If you have any questions, please contact our registrar Ms. Martina Munoz at extension 101.
Thank you for your interest in MIT Academy.
